Sarja sijoittuu kuvitteelliseen Hawkinsin kaupunkiin, missä 12-vuotias Will katoaa vuonna 1983. Kuvioihin sekaantuu psykokinesiaa omaava tyttö, joka väittää tietävänsä Willin sijainnin. Kauhua ja Scifiä riittää kun kavereiden seikkailut alkavat.
